Indie Game Showcase Returns in December with Day of the Devs: The Game Awards Edition

In an exciting collaboration, Day of the Devs, the leading platform for showcasing indie games and developers, is teaming up with The Game Awards for a special edition event. “Day of the Devs: The Game Awards Edition” promises to shine a spotlight on the world of indie gaming alongside the annual year-end celebration of the video game industry. This partnership aims to engage a wider audience, offering a livestream showcase on December 6, 2023, and a free in-person event for both the games industry and the community in Downtown Los Angeles on December 8, 2023.

Geoff Keighley, The Game Awards’ creator and executive producer, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The goal of The Game Awards is to celebrate as many games as possible. We’re excited to welcome Day of the Devs: TGA Edition to our week-long celebration of games, which will further spotlight independent games from around the world.”

Day of the Devs is looking for unique, diverse, and visually captivating indie games to feature. Developers from various backgrounds are strongly encouraged to submit their projects, as Day of the Devs remains committed to inclusivity and diversity. Games and projects of all genres and types will be considered. It’s important to note that Day of the Devs remains free for participating developers, thanks to the support and sponsorship of participating AAA partners, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder indie games from reaching a broader audience.

Independent game developers have until September 20, 2023, to submit their creations for consideration to be a part of the in-person event at this link. A selection of games showcased at the in-person event will also have the opportunity to participate in the livestream showcase.

To accommodate this exciting addition to the gaming calendar in Los Angeles, the traditional Day of the Devs live show, held in San Francisco for the past decade, will shift to a new date in the first few months of the upcoming year. This means that the next live Day of the Devs event in San Francisco will not be in November as usual but will take place a few months later in early 2024.

Tim Schafer, founder of Double Fine Productions and co-founder of Day of the Devs, commented on the change, saying, “It will be hard to wait the extra time until our next live show in San Francisco. But we promise that because of this move, the San Francisco show will be better than ever, taking place at a time when even more folks will be in town so that they can attend in person. So now you have even more choices where to see great indie games and meet the devs who made them.”

Gamers and indie game enthusiasts alike can mark their calendars for this exciting partnership between Day of the Devs and The Game Awards, promising a spectacular showcase of the best indie games the industry has to offer.
