What will be in Sonic Origins? All Games and Game Modes

Sonic Origins is the newest Sonic game compilation featuring the very first Sonic the Hedgehog game, the sequels 2 and 3 & Knuckles, and also Sonic CD. Not only are they remastered for the previous and current gen consoles and platforms, a bunch of game modes have also been added in the compilation.

We’ll take a look at all the games included in Sonic Origins, and also talk about the different modes that are available.

Classic Mode in 4:3 screen ratio

    Classic Mode

Classic Mode is for players who would want to relive the nostalgia of playing the Sonic games in a 4:3 aspect ratio, but with remastered visuals. This mode also maintains the finite lives mechanic so when Sonic’s lives runs out, it’s game over.

Anniversary Mode in 16:9 screen ratio

    Anniversary Mode

The Anniversary Mode provides a wider experience, literally. The game will be shown in a 16:9 aspect ratio, which means you will get to see more of the level as you go. This mode provides infinite lives so you don’t have to worry about going through the previous levels if ever you mess up.

All four games can either be experienced through Classic mode or Anniversary mode.

The new animations connect each game in Story Mode

    Story Mode

Story Mode is basically all games strung up to make one cohesive story. This mode includes new animated cutscenes that will tie each game to each other to make the narrative more connected.

    Boss Rush

    Boss Rush Mode

Boss Rush Mode allows you to fight against the challenging bosses from every level back to back, which includes Dr. Eggman and Metal Sonic.

    Mission Mode

    Mission Mode

Mission Mode is a different mode where challenging missions can be taken. Each mission requires a certain objective to be accomplished, and the higher your score is by the end of the mission, the higher your rank will be. You will also be rewarded with coins which is a currency that can be used to immediately retry a failed special stage in the Anniversary Mode or unlock content in the Museum.

Flip the levels in Mirror Mode

    Mirror Mode

Mirror Mode allows players to experience the games with another perspective: by flipping the way that the entire level progresses. This means, when Sonic usually goes from left to right through a level, Mirror Mode flips the level from right to left. The controls are unaffected and the HUD elements will remain unflipped, so the entire experience won’t be disorienting. This mode will be available through the Start Dash Pack free DLC.

Lots of Sonic content in the Museum

    Museum

Though not entirely a mode itself, the Museum provides players with a lot of content that spans throughout the three-decade history of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. This includes the characters and their biography, illustrations of game box arts, sounds and background music, and even movies. There’s also a separate Premium Collection that holds exclusive never before seen Sonic content.
