How to get the Shotgun in Alone in the Dark

The Shotgun is a bonus permanent weapon in Alone in the Dark (2024), which is unlocked by completing the “Lost Children” Lagniappes set. This gun deals a decent amount of damage, whereas two shots would be enough to take down a normal monster, although reloading is quite slow compared to the handgun.

But just like all other permanent weapons you can equip in your item slot, the Shotgun in Alone in the Dark is found and obtained only after progressing through the early parts of the main story.

Where to find the Shotgun in Alone in the Dark

Alone in the Dark Shotgun Location

The shotgun can be found in the Small Parlor on the first floor of Derceto Manor, inside a cabinet. You can initially enter the parlor through the library; however, you’ll first need to get Batiste’s keys and complete Chapter 1 to unlock the door to the library.

To unlock the Shotgun, players will need to collect all three “Lost Children” Lagniappes.

How to Unlock the Shotgun in Alone in the Dark

    • Lost Children Lagniappe 1/3 (Rubber Stamp)
    • Lost Children Lagniappe 2/3 (Fountain Pen)
    • Lost Children Lagniappe 3/3 (Dog Collar)

The following shows every location for each Lost Children Lagniappe and how to get there:

Lost Children Lagniappe 1/3 (Rubber Stamp)

The first Lost Children Lagniappe can be found on a desk near a lamp in the reception room on the first floor of Derceto Manor. This will be available in Chapter 1, after you’ve obtained the floor plans from Lottie’s room, along with a Piazza door key that leads to the Stair Hall.

Lost Children Lagniappe 2/3 (Fountain Pen)

The second Lost Children Lagniappe can be found on a small table, beside a fan in Batiste’s room on the second floor of Derceto Manor. This will be available in Chapter 2, and you can get there by going through the door to the left of the Astronomical Clock in the Gallery.

Lost Children Lagniappe 3/3 (Dog Collar)

The final Lost Children Lagniappe can be found under a desk by the window in the drawing room. The entrance to the drawing room can be accessed through the Small Parlor. To unlock it, you must complete the Hateful Mound (Oil Rig) Objective in Chapter 2 to get the Palette Knife, which is required to remove door wedges.

When you’ve collected all 3 of the Lost Children Lagniappes, you’ll be able to open the shotgun cabinet and get the weapon.
